      <image:caption>I Can Handle It: his piece represents the fact that you strain to hold on. There’s this constant battle of holding on while things around you are melting apart. The vibrant red is first introduced in the booklet with this piece. It is representative of the physical exhaustion present in the act of holding on to something - whether that be mentally or physically. Along with this color - this photograph of the arm contrasts this shade of red furthering the concept of an internal battle. You don’t want to let on to these struggles that are present.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Blooming Everywhere</image:title>
      <image:caption>Citizen of the World: As a Military Brat, we float around like dandelions in the wind, accepting our fate that we plant roots wherever we may land. From this we belong everywhere and nowhere all at once. We accept that we are citizens of the earth. It is a wanderlust-type feeling. The gradient transparency is an ode to how we fade into each place we land. An emblem of each major branch of the military is present within the Earth, signifying that although we may come from different branches and different backgrounds, we are still one in the same.</image:caption>
    </image:image>

      <image:title>Work - Blooming Everywhere</image:title>
      <image:caption>World Culture: Culture played a big part in my childhood, and even more, every Military Brat. I had the opportunity to explore and immerse myself in a multitude of various cultures, both across the country and worldwide. As a Military Brat, we gaze upon the world with excitement to explore it. It is like we view Earth as this far off planet just asking to be explored. However, at times it may feel like we are trapped on another planet, not able to connect with the ‘civilians’ around us.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>

      <image:title>Work - Blooming Everywhere</image:title>
      <image:caption>Population 0: One of the hardest questions for me to personally answer is ‘Where are you from?” It feels like a lie whatever I answer. This piece was inspired by that question. As a Military Brat, I grew up in 9 different places. There is ambiguity behind this answer. It is like a barren land with no specific landmarks. Military Brats don’t necessarily have a Hometown, and that is one thing (of many) that puts us in the same category as eachother.</image:caption>
    </image:image>
    <image:image>

      <image:title>Work - Blooming Everywhere</image:title>
      <image:caption>Running Out of Time in the Metaphysical Garden of Life: The average time frame of being in one place before your parent gets orders to a new station is 2-3 years. This meaning that as Military Brats, we only have 2-3 years to make connections with people around us. All the while we are trying to maintain our own lives. It constantly feels like we are running out of time to establish order in our lives. The hourglass is symbolic of our wonderful lives. But, we are trapped in the sands of time, while the sand slowly, but ever-steadily drops, sinking us further in the hole.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Blooming Everywhere</image:title>
      <image:caption>Trapped on the Outside: One of the downsides of being a Military Brat is we may not always feel like we belong. Constantly moving place to place where everyone there has had there established group since they were in kidnergarten makes us feel trapped. We become stuck with our nerves. We’re trapped on the outside just begging to get closer to those around us and make a deeper connection.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Blooming Everywhere</image:title>
      <image:caption>Friends Forever, I Promise: A pinky promise is something that is commonly used among childhood friends. It is representative of having that childlike ‘faith’ if you will. Behind the hands, “A Time to Talk About Friendship”, a poem by Robert Frost is featured in the background. The life of a Military Brat presents you with many opportunities. One of them being fostering new friendships everywhere you go. As you grow older and move away, you still have those memories present of those friendships you created everywhere you live. The colors, complimentary in nature, represent that although you may be on opposite sides of the world, the connection remains through and through.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Work - Blooming Everywhere</image:title>
      <image:caption>Inconsistently Combined: As a Military Brat, your life is full of consistent inconsistency. You will most likely move consistently, however, the places you go are not consistent. The fact that you will meet new people is consistent, however, who they are is not consistent. These new expereinces shape you into a Military Brat. You become a mosaic of all the people you meet and the places you go.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Bottled Up Skeleton: The concept of this illustration was inspired by two sayings: “bottling up your emotions” and “skeletons in closets.” One of the common things that Military Brats undergo is learning to cope with all of the moving and constant changing. Another common thing was that we did not want to let on and have our parents worry about us. Because of this, the majority of those that wrote to me tried to bottle up their emotions. Along with this, we all have skeletons in our closets that we do not want others to know about, as most Military Brats don’t typically share the hardships we encountered growing up. Instead, you just list off the places that you’ve lived or things that you have done.</image:caption>
